That poor little mother will have to work triple-time to feed that big, fat, false baby! Lazy cowbirds...

I have the same problem here with cuckoos laying their eggs in in the tiny fairy wren's nests.
Isn't it funny how if the mama bird hatches the egg, it's HER baby!
I did a post on cowbirds awhile back - called them "Vagrant Birds"! Stewart reminded me that all birds have their purposes, and I try to remember that instead of getting upset with them!

We have cowbirds too but I never knew what the juveniles looked like. Interesting!
