50 shades of cochddu

Cochddu - The Welsh term for the color that Black Welsh sheep turn in the sun.

I'm embarrassed to report that though the sheep are well, I have a very, very, very, VERY difficult time telling them apart. I think that the one in front is Jezebel, mother of Jethro. And the little ram in the middle is Billy. Maybe. The ewe in the back might be Bo. Or not. Generally, I have to be close enough to see their numbers to know for sure.

Sigh. It will come. It will come.

  1. I know what you are talking about .... but I need bigger ear tags. Every time I try to check their tags they turn around and stare at me ..... numbers are on back side of their ears and small. Almost got close enough this morning only to find there was too much dirt over the number to read it. So happy you decided to give them a new home.

    1. Even my regular size tags are a challenge for me to see. I need to paint big numbers on all their backs!

  2. How do you pronounce that word? That's exactly what Baaxter looks like now! And soon you'll know each sheep. I promise. You are just doing it the hard way, picking up so many at one time ;-).

    1. I've no clue how to say it. Maybe someone out there knows Welsh and can tell us...

  3. I love the colors - it's so fascinating to me to see how the wool changes over time. As they settle in, I bet their individual personalities will help you along in identifying them.
